Youth Group
About
The youth ministry hosts monthly youth group meetings for Middle School and High School youth and small Orthodox Bible studies known as Discipleship Groups. Led by Orthodox adults under the direction of Father Gregory, the discipleship groups give the youth an opportunity to be personally mentored in small, gender separate and age-specific groups as they strive to apply the Orthodox Faith to their daily lives.
Vision
Equip the youth of Holy Cross Orthodox Church to live the fullness of the Orthodox Faith in Christ through Worship, Witness, Service, Formation, and Fellowship.
Goals
Grow the youth in the fullness of the Orthodox Faith through teaching and equipping. Disciple and mentor the youth while helping them to apply the Orthodox Faith to their lives. Provide opportunities for fellowship, fun, and service.
Praxis
The vision and goals of the youth ministries of Holy Cross Orthodox Church are being implemented through the following means:
- Large Group Meetings are held monthly. They provide Middle School and High School youth with opportunities for fellowship with the larger circle of their brothers and sisters in Christ. The large group also provides a continuation of the teaching and formation occurring in the discipleship groups, as different topics are presented each month.
- Service Projects, Retreats, and Fellowship Opportunities are planned quarterly. Service projects enable the youth to apply and grow in their understanding of Orthodox Christian service. Times of retreat provide opportunities for fun while also helping the youth to focus more intensely on their formation as Orthodox Christians.
- Teen SOYO Leadership Team is for youth ages 13-18 who are interested in supporting the vision and goals of the youth ministry and representing the youth of Holy Cross to the Archdiocese. Applications are available yearly.
