Youth Skiing Trip
The youth will be going skiing at Whitetail Ski Resort, Saturday, February 9th and staying at church for Movie night afterwards. Parents can pick up youth at church Sunday morning. Please let asap if you would like to go. We must have 15 people to get these rates. Feel free to invite your friends. Those who live far away are welcome to spend Friday night at the Ashworth house as well.
Times
- Depart church: 7:30 AM
- Return church: 7:30 PM (earlier if everyone is tired)
Costs
- $64 if you have your own skis
- $64 for the beginner slopes only (includes lesson)
- $76 for All Mountain pass (includes lesson)
- $8.75 to buy lunch (optional)—we will bring coolers to pack lunches in too.
If you don't want to ski, tubing costs $20 for two hours. You can hang out in the lodge and play games the rest of the day or go tubing multiple times ($20 for each 2 hour session).
What to Bring
Please wear warm clothing, with a waterproof outerlayer (like ski pants & winter jacket), hat, mittens, wool socks. Long underwear helpful. If you don't wear ski pants, bring an extra pair of pants to change into.
To spend the night at church, bring:
- sleeping bag
- pillow
- something comfortable to sleep in
- clothes to wear to church on Sunday
Cell phones are fine, for emergency use only. Please don't bring other electronic devices.
Forms Needed
Permissions slips need to be signed. The ski rental form needs to be signed and returned. Skiers need to bring 2 copies with original signatures on both copies--credit card info not necessary. The tubing release form needs to be signed only if you're going tubing & not skiing.
- The trip is for all members of the youth group, not just teens.
- Please pay Janet next Sunday if at all possible. That way we can have a check from the church to pay at group checkin. The exception would be those who are tubing--they will not be buying group tickets, so they will not need to pay in advance, but we need to know who is coming to make sure we have enough room in the vehicles.
- Everyone gets a lesson, unless they have their own skis. The $64 option is probably best for most of the kids, since they have indicated that they don't ski. That gets you a lesson and access to all of the beginner slopes (4-5). Most of my new skiers with girl scouts don't make it off the first slope the first time they go. The $76 all mountain pass includes a lesson and lets you go anywhere on the mountain.
- The kids need to choose between skis and snowboard--there is a $10 fee to change their mind. The snowboards come with lessons as well. All fees include equipment rental & lift tickets.
- They can pay an extra $8.75 to buy lunch (special deal), or they can pack a lunch which we will bring in coolers. A little spending money wouldn't hurt.
- Friends are welcome. We will need a permission slip for the friends as well.
- Please email Roxann by Tuesday at the latest so that she can make a reservation with some kind of accuracy.
- Parents are welcome, if they want to join the fun (and their kids won't be too embarrassed).
- The group rental form MUST be made in two copies, with ORIGINAL signatures on each copy.
