Lunchless Luncheon

The Antiochian Women of Holy Cross Sisterhood of St Nina Cordially invite you to a "Lunchless Luncheon" to support The Convent of St Thekla at the Antiochian Village.

This special event will be held throughout Great Lent in an ordinary envelope. The appropriate attire will be a contrite and humble heart seeking an avenue for your Lenten Almsgiving.

All women of the Antiochian Archdiocese are collectively known as ‘The Antiochian Women’. Once a year we use our collective numbers to support a special project brought to our attention by Metropolitan PHILIP and others. For many years, Metropolitan PHILIP has had a vision that one day we would have a convent at Antiochian Village. With this goal in mind he has given us a new project for 2010, "The Convent of St Thekla," which will be built on the grounds of Antiochian Village.

Upon the arrival of Mother Alexandra at the Village on July 7, 2009, much has transpired. She has prepared the home where she is currently residing for monastic life in order for the nuns to have privacy to retreat into prayer life. The home has living arrangements for up to three nuns and the living room has been converted into a chapel. As of February 1, 2010, both the site survey and the Environmental Impact Study have been approved. With the completion of the Feasibility Report, the search for an architect to build the convent is underway.

Please join the North American Board of Antiochian Women in working on this exciting and worthwhile project. With faith, love, and determination, please help us make this vision a reality.

Please make checks payable to "Holy Cross" with a designation in the memo line for "St Thekla Convent" and return via the mail or offering basket by April 18th.
